My dear Sir!
You have no doubt received my letter of the 13th
instant which I sent to Mr Peschier forward you;
it must have given you pleasure, as it conveyed to you
as faithful description of you beautiful and amiable
child. Would to God that I could have remained
longer near him, I then could have proved the serenity
of my heart in fulfilling my promises, by impressing
over his mind (by my attentions) the affectionate
esteem which I have for his father !
I would have remained longer […] Hamburg
but the importunities of Mr Siencking prevailed on me
to quit it for America. You know I sold him
100.000 acres of land in that country, but as the
agent who was initially authorised by us both
to make the conveyance, died some time ago
in New York, and as two years have now
elapsed since I made the sale without having
it finished, I determined from his intreaties,
and indeed for our mutual interest to go myself
and put a final period to it.
I have therefore left Hambro this morning,
and will [n]ow sail for Charleston the first
fair wind. I hope to be back in May […]
when I shall have the pleasure of writing you.
I received your kind letter of the 27th
August a few days ago, but I was so hurried
that I had not time to reply to it sooner.
I am thankful for the trouble you
have h[…] the 66953 Rd. 20 I hope you will
be able to […] them to Mr Peschier or to […]
Lubbert & Dumas before this reached you;
I thought your Government incapable
of trifling in a matter so plain: but we
never should (I believe) trust to the promise
of Governors, for they are generally meant
but to deceive. In this instance we have witnessed it.
I have no doubt my good friend but you will
give every assistance in your power to put a
final close to this business which I have assured
my friends in Copenhagen & Hamburg that you would
do without fail & even with pleasure.
Our friend Barney is likewise gone a few
days ago to America with the Command of 10 frigates
From Rochefort. I wish with all my soul he may
be successful against the English. You will
therefore be pleased in future to correspond with
J. F. Perregaux of Paris in case of prizes
or any business that […]
here after in that way […]
Written to him about H[…] Janson
In the manner which he […]
It is pleasure my dear friend to make money, and possess
At the same time the esteem of all those with whom
we have to do – such is your happy lot !
My best compliment to Mrs […] Janson
& to our worthy Mr Chezaulx & all his family.
Believe me to be sincerely most affectionate
Your friend O’Mealy
I begged of you to my last to send the pipe of Geir to Hambro
Which you will please to do, to my good friends Lubbert & Dumas
Adieu my dear Mr. Janson! God bless you, and
Grant you much happiness from your dear children
Ever yours
Mr […] Janson
